Closing the Bones Ceremony
Our Stories are held in our bodies. Sometimes we have a narrative attatched to them and sometimes they are non-verbal. A Closing the Bones Ceremony offers a space for your stories to be witnessed and released. A space for you to be honoured and nurtured. It can be a deeply restorative and healing process.

We begin with a Rezebo massage. Using Rezobo cloths to gently hold the body whilst relaxing the muscles and facia a rhythmic rocking side to side motion provides comfort and bilateral stimulation. Bilateral stimulation sooths our nervous system, activating a parasympathetic state which reduces stress in the body. Rezebo massage is also referred to as 'sifting' and can be seen as beginning the process of gently loosening the experiances held within our bodies. The Rezebo massage is done partly standing and completted whilst laying on a further seven Rezebos on the floor.

You are then invited to have an adominal massage with movements that further release stories and emotions which are held in the hips and a gathering together and centring of these.

I will then wrap you within the seven Rezebos. How this is done can be varied dependent on your wishes and needs. I will tenderly wrap each one in turn, starting from the feet. Once wrapped I will hold space for you with some ceremonial words and sit with you whilst the Rezebo's hold your body.

When you are ready you will be unwrapped and there is time for tea, talking, integration and grounding.

Throughout this process you are given time, nothing is rushed to allow you to fully beneift from the process. Please allow approx 3 hours.

Closing the Bones has been held as a ceremony to honour post partum women but the benefits of this work are so much wider. Bilateral stimulation and binding the body can be very gentle yet powerful ways of working with trauma within the body. They can also be a very beutiful and soothing experiance for the neurodivergent brain. Each Closing the Bones Ceromony is as unique as each individual and can be experianced in a multitude of ways. I offer the Ceromony as described above to women. If you are a male and feel drawn to this work pleae contact me to discuss as it may be adapted.
